Jewelry Care FAQ
Jewelry Care FAQ
How do I clean my gold-plated jewelry?
Wipe your piece gently with a soft, lint-free cloth after each wear to remove oils and residue. For a deeper clean, dampen the cloth lightly with plain water and pat dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cloths, ultrasonic cleaners, and polishing solutions — these can strip the plating.
How should I store my jewelry?
Store each piece separately in the pouch or box it came in to prevent scratching and tangling. Keep jewelry away from direct sunlight, humidity, and extreme temperatures. An airtight zip pouch adds an extra layer of protection against oxidation.
Can I wear my jewelry in water?
We recommend removing your jewelry before swimming, bathing, washing hands, or any prolonged water exposure. Water — especially chlorinated or salt water — can accelerate plating wear over time.
Can I spray perfume or apply products while wearing my jewelry?
No. Always apply perfume, lotions, sunscreen, and hairspray before putting on your jewelry. Chemicals in these products react with the plating and speed up surface dulling. As a rule: jewelry goes on last, comes off first.
Is it safe for daily wear?
Our pieces are designed to be worn regularly with proper care. For best results, avoid wearing jewelry during workouts, household chores, or any activity involving sweat, chemicals, or friction. The more mindful you are, the longer your pieces will look their best.
I have sensitive skin — is your jewelry safe for me?
Our gold-plated jewelry uses a base metal with a gold layer. If you have a known sensitivity to base metals, we recommend wearing pieces for shorter durations initially and monitoring for any reaction. Keeping jewelry dry and clean helps minimise skin contact with the base layer.
What packaging does my order come in?
Each YOUORA™ piece arrives in branded packaging designed for safe transit and ongoing storage. We recommend keeping the original packaging as your everyday storage solution.
Can care restore plating that has already worn off?
Unfortunately, once the gold plating has worn through to the base metal, home care cannot reverse it. In this case, professional re-plating by a jeweller is the only restoration option. Consistent care from the start is the best way to extend the life of your pieces.
Any other tips?
Remove jewelry before bed to reduce friction. Avoid stacking pieces that are prone to tangling. And when in doubt — keep it dry, keep it clean, and store it properly.
